Note:Two sisters run this historic and traditional estate in Castiglione Falletto. The Villero bottling is produced from 53-year-old vines, and the nose is very ripe, with lush cherry and blackberry aromas. Suave and rounded, it has good concentration and weight of fruit. Tannic and peppery, this has length and swagger.

BAROLO BUSSIA VIGNA MONDOCA 2008
Anno:2018
Guida:Decanter
Punteggio:90
Note:Oddero are a long-established house with vineyards across some of the finest crus of Barolo. Mondoca sits above the hamlet of Dardi on the higher reaches of the Bussia hillside. Still bright and youthful in appearance, it's ripe and forthcoming with truffle-scented black fruit aromas, hints of woodsmoke and charred spice. The palate is round and mouthfilling in a full and chewy style, with dense, ripe tannins and impressive sweetness of fruit. It has a long, smoky-toned finish.

BAROLO ROCCHE DI CASTIGLIONE 2009
Anno:2018
Guida:Decanter
Punteggio:91
Note:There might be better traditional Barolos than Oddero’s, but not many. Mariacristina Oddero runs the estate with passion, grace and charm, and this wine, though less famous than her Vigna Rionda or Brunate, is an excellent introduction to the house style and to Barolo. 91 Drink 2014–2025
BAROLO BRUNATE 2014
Anno:2018
Guida:Decanter
Punteggio:90
Note:This long established La Morra property is run with flair by two sisters. Although the nose is dumb, the palate is quite rich, creamy and weighty with bold, ripe tannins. This has depth and drive, and ample acidity on the finish. It's not especially complex, but instead fruity and solid. It needs time, as there's some toughness on the finish.

THE CRU-ISATION OF BAROLO - BAROLO VIGNA RIONDA RISERVA 2007
Note:Red fruits nose, with some smoky, leathery tones too, but not too evolved. Dense and opulent, a full-bodied wine with chewy tannins that are still slightly at war with the ripe fruit. But this has impressive weight and punch. Very long
